Many alumni express an interest in making a career change. However, they often are unclear about the position, company and industry in which they will be most successful. The Focus Your Career Series enables them to establish the parameters of their new career by developing responses to the following questions:
Do you know what you are selling in the job market?
What are your transferable skills?
Do you know what are you buying in the job market?
What do you want the goals of the company to be?
What knowledge and education do you want to use on the job?
What are your personal and work values?
What do you want your salary level to be?
What do you want your responsibility level to be?
With what kind of people do you want to work?
In what kind of environment do you want to work?>
In what geographical area do you want to work?
Participants in this five session workshop series
-Complete a series of targeted, interactive exercises that enable them to develop their personal career parameters — a picture of their “ideal job”
-Complete one self-assessment instrument that provides them with possible job titles.
-Participate in a “Career Brainstorming Session” with key faculty career services staff members and alumni who help them target specific positions * companies * industries that would be a good “fit” for them.
This 5-session workshop series is live on-campus beginning Monday, September 23 (6:30-7:30 PM). Subsequent dates are September 30, October 7, 21 and 28. Attendance at all five sessions is required.
The program will be available virtually at a later date.
